Para aconsejar algo a alguien o expresar una opinión sobre lo que sería más recomendable para alguien se utiliza It would be better if… (Sería mejor si…), después se escribe el verbo principal en pasado (el que describe la acción que se aconseja).
Ejemplos:

- It would be better if we rested a while. (Sería mejor si nosotros descansamos un poco)
- It would be better if he saved his money. (Sería mejor si él ahorrara su dinero)

- It would be better if you told the truth. (Sería mejor si le dijeras la verdad)
- It would be better if she prepared her homework more carefully. (Sería mejor si ella preparara su tarea más cuidadosamente)
